The May Chidiac Foundation-Media Institute held its annual Media Awards Ceremony on October 19, 2016 at the Pavillon Royal in Biel.
The four accolade categories are “Antoine Choueiry’s Special Tribute for Lifetime Achievement Award”, the “Lifetime Achievement for an Outstanding Media Performance Award”, the “Engaged Journalist Award”, and the “Exceptional Courage in Journalism Award”, in addition to these awards this year MCF proudly introduced a new award, the “Excellence in the Media Industry Award”.
Zeinab Badawi was awarded with the Antoine Choueiry’s Special Tribute for Lifetime Achievement Award presented to her by Pierre Choueiry, Chairman of Choueiry Group and Elias Bou Saab, Minister of Education. Zeinab is the Presenter of Hard Talk for the BBC and Global Questions & World Debate on BBC World TV, she is one of the best known broadcast journalists, and she was named by Power list as one of Britain’s top 100 most influential members of the black community twice.
Michel Drucker was awarded with the Lifetime Achievement for an Outstanding Media Performance Award by May Chidiac, Founder and President of MCF, and Michel Pharaon, Minister of Tourism. Drucker is a well-known French TV host, radio host and TV Producer, and he has presented and produced prime time entertainment shows such as the legendary Champs-Elysées.
Lamees Hadidi was awarded the Courage in Journalism award and it was presented to her by
Nohad El Machnouk, Minister of Interior and Municipalities, and Mogens Schmidt, Former Director the Division Freedom of Expression, Democracy and Peace at UNESCO. Lamees Hadidi is a presenter of daily news show on the Egyptian private CBC network, “Hona al Aasema” and she is considered one of the main media icons of the June 30th revolution as she opposed the Ikhwan regime throughout the Presidency of Morsi, and was head of a hit list of media figures during and after the Ikhwan rule.
Mohammed Muheissen was awarded with the Engaged Journalist Award; it was awarded to him by Maha Shair, Former journalist and TV presenter in Jordan, and Brent Sadler, Chairman of the Editorial Board of N1, 24 hour channel in the Balkans.
Muheissen is a photojournalist, he is a two-time Breaking News Pulitzer Prize winner in 2005 and 2013, he is the AP Chief Photographer for the Middle East, Afghanistan and Pakistan, and was named TIME Magazine’s Best Wire Photographer of 2013.
Rani R. Raad:
Rani R. Raad was awarded the newest accolade by MCF, the Excellence in the Media Industry Award, it was presented to him by Christina Lassen, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon. Rani began his career with CNN in New York in 1998 and has since held a range of senior positions across the business, and he is also responsible for the commercial strategy and vision for the world’s biggest international news and information portfolio.
