In 2012, in collaboration with the US Embassy Project, the May Chidiac Foundation – Media Institute celebrated Lebanese youth’s completion of a new media training program that took place for 9 months.
The first course entitled “Digital Media and Web Journalism” was instructed by Naoum Abi Adam served as an introduction to the study and creation of multimedia, using various software programs. Students were taught both the aesthetic and technical aspects of multimedia design and production. Participants were introduced to Web production and the business process behind multimedia. Another integral part of the course dealt with writing news and headlines in electronic media. It focused on the correlations between audio, written, and visual media and the concept of mobile news. Trainees were divided into groups, as per the course requirements, determined by the trainer Nawfal Daou, Editor-in-Chief of the online daily Naharnet. The final third of the course included a training with Mr. Roland Abi Najem. Trainees engaged in writing short posts concerning social and political developments while taking into consideration the different formats available and methods of publishing.
The trainees were asked to prepare a storyboard and shoot a short video production, which can be found in the media section of this website.
